Expanded 3x3 Sudoku

Expanded Sudoku adds another layer of deduction that you will have to call upon to successfully complete this challenge.  The board has grown substantially - every 9x9 grid is its own complete puzzle.  Your goal - figure out the relationship across all cells, extrapolate the missing data, wash, rinse, and repeat.

This is a pretty straight forward puzzle once you realize what exactly is going on.  A big help for me was breaking out some colored pencils - think about it!
